Players can upgrade their weapons and equipment using new affixes. They can also boost its stats base or add additional benefits. To upgrade items, the player must have the item in their inventory, and also access the kiln.

Typically, items with weak bases (like rings) can be upgraded to a stronger base, while items with strong bases such as eth titans do not vary significantly in their stats after being upgraded.

Upgrade components

Upgrade components can be incorporated into trinkets, armor, weapons and gathering tools, giving an added bonus or effect when the equipment is used. They can be purchased from vendors, found as loot by enemies, or gotten from chests or missions.  item upgrader  have cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be at a certain level to upgrade.

In order to upgrade an item of armor, the player must choose it and click the Upgrade button in the toolbar. This will show on the right-hand side of the screen a preview showing the expected upgrade stats as well as the necessary component or materials.

There are three types: universal upgrades (which include gems) Prefix upgrades and suffix upgrade components. Universal upgrades, which include gems, are able to be used in any type of equipment and offer less bonuses than upgrade components that are type-restricted. Infusions are jewels that can only be used in legendary and ascended equipment. They provide the same bonuses as jewels, however they cannot be used in other equipment. Suffix upgrades can be added to gathering tools. They add a suffix at the end of item names. For instance adding the suffix Glyph will transform a Staff wrapping of Minor Vigor into a Canthan staff wrapping of Minor Vigor.

If the player upgrades their gathering tool and replaces the glyphs by a different one the old one will be returned to their inventory. If you replace another upgrade component with a glyph, it will be destroyed, with the exception for inscriptions, which can be freely swapped.

Leveling

Path of Exile's upgrade system is different from previous versions in several important ways. Gear is now broken down into tracks, and items can only be upgraded a set number of times before they're "leveled out."  item upgrade  of upgrading increases with each level, however the materials required for upgrades do not. If an item does not reach its max level, the NPC will give the player the option of transfer it to a different character and re-infuse it with an upgrade set that is different. The process can take as long as two hours and costs the same amount of materials, though it will result in less chance of success.

Engineers may use a level in order to measure the height of the building against an established point, like an existing benchmark. This method is known as a "level loop." It involves taking readings using the backsight rod and the level, then turning the level to make the foresight rod reading. This method ensures that buildings are built to a high level of safety and accuracy.

Rerolling

Rerolling is the process of altering the upgrade components of an item. It is an essential part of the game and can improve the strength, damage or other attributes. It is possible to do this through the item menu or by pressing the Reroll button every time you upgrade an item. Rerolling an item can be costly and should be used sparingly.

Reroll tokens are derived by recycling upgraded items. These tokens are then used to upgrade the original item or another similar item. Recyclable items come with a gauge that shows the amount of upgrade. The amount of level that has been filled depends on the rarity and the upgrade cost of the item.

In the past, certain upgrade items were affixed with priority that made them easier to roll for than others. This meant that you'd get the most crucial stats for your build more frequently than others. This included things like the armor's total armor, thorns, and duration reduction stats that are controlled or the weapon's bonus attack speed and critical strike chance.

This has changed since the last patch. Priority affixes were removed and all upgrades have the same chance of rolling for each stat. This can be either good or bad, based on what you're looking for and want from your equipment.

Another reason for upgrading certain items is to bring them into the same level as their levels. For example the Immortal King set has a vast range of levels, ranging between 29 and 76. Upgrades to lower level items can increase their defense and improve their performance in terms of damage.

Clicking the Upgrade button will show the item's attributes and the necessary items needed to upgrade it. It will show the item's characteristics, as well as the necessary items required to upgrade it. To upgrade the No-mouth Face for instance, 1.1K Scrap Materials will be required, 250 Enchanted Dust and 5 Glowing Shards. Upgrades to gold are recommended for weapons that have weapons-damage or spell glyphs. This will result in a significant increase in their performance. Weapons with an upgraded appearance will benefit from this upgrade as its defense value will increase as it goes from purple to gold.
